Graduate Neuroscience Program
at the University of Louisville

The Graduate Neuroscience Program at the University of Louisville is a multidisciplinary training program with over 80 Photo of the Medical Science Center Towerparticipating faculty in 15 departments. Faculty research interests span a broad spectrum of neuroscience, from molecular mechanisms to cognition and behavior. Translation of basic research to clinical therapies is also actively pursued. The Neuroscience Program was established to promote interaction between departments and across disciplines. Students will find a friendly, collaborative atmosphere that is conducive to success. A flexible core curriculum encourages students to develop skills in approaching research problems with multiple levels of analysis. The annual Neuroscience Orientation Day and multiple laboratory rotations expose incoming students to the wide range of research areas available to them, and encourage cross disciplinary training and collaboration. Core research facilities also support training in a variety of research techniques and facilitate interactions between faculty and students. Participation in the Neuroscience Seminar Series, NeuroLunch, and journal clubs provide numerous opportunities for scientific discussions and socializing. The active Louisville Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience, which hosts an annual Neuroscience Research Day, provides further opportunities for interdisciplinary interactions. We encourage students interested in a career in neuroscience to apply to join us for a rewarding educational experience.
